Howden Re names Candy Wong as Head of Treaty for Hong Kong

Howden Re, the global reinsurance broking arm of Howden Group, has appointed Candy Wong as Head of Treaty for Hong Kong, effective August 18th, 2025.

Candy Wong Howden ReThe appointment aims to further strengthen Howden Re’s commitment to building a differentiated, client-centric reinsurance platform in and for the Hong Kong market.

In her new role, Wong will lead Howden Re’s Hong Kong office, focus on developing and deliver the firm’s treaty reinsurance proposition. She has over four decades of reinsurance industry experience, half of which included leadership roles in the Hong Kong market.

Most recently, she served at the reinsurance broking arm of Marsh McLennan, Guy Carpenter, following its merger with JLT Re, where she served as a Managing Director, leading strategic growth initiatives and client development. Previously, she spent more than three decades at Aon Re China Ltd., latterly as a Managing Director.

Howden Re explains that Wong’s appointment follows the recent launch of its reinsurance platform in Hong Kong led by Managing Director, Roy Wong, and builds on the earlier hires of senior brokers Brian Chan and Karen Liu.

It also aligns with Howden Re’s strategic plans for expansion across Asia Pacific, including the appointment of John Philipsz as Head of Australia and New Zealand and the establishment of a treaty offering in Taiwan under Jimmy Tsai.
